A duo exhibition by Vita Soul Wilmering and Monika Zarzeczna at KC Trebinje opens August 6th at 20.00

“parallel relocations // relocated parallels” consists of works created at KAMEN Artist Residency. The artists’ different works find an overlap in their formal negotiation of histories.

Monika Zarzeczna is a Polish/Dutch artist and occasional curator from New York. Zarzeczna’s sculptures “Proposal III“ are influenced by the remains of socialist buildings and structures in the region; fragile yet expansive constructions from tape and cardboard collected at local supermarkets.

Vita Soul Wilmering is a Dutch artist rooted in documentary cinema who works with an emphasis on sound and performance. Wilmering’s installation “Parallel Lake Bottom Cinema” gestures the activation of a silent past. A landscape of ruins becomes the proposed stage for an open air cinema, set to the sound of speculative memory.

The works in “parallel relocations // relocated parallels” point to the next chapters of this exhibition, “Proposal IV” and “Lake Bottom Cinema,” which will be held at KAMEN Artist residency in Orah on Saturday August 13th at 18.30.

“parallel relocations // relocated parallels” је изложба умјетница Вите Соул Вилмеринг и Монике Зарзечне и састоји се од радова насталих на умјетничкој резиденцији „КАМЕН“ Различити радови умјетника налазе преклапање у њиховом формалном преговарању о историји.

Моника Зарзечна је пољско-холандска умјетница и повремени кустос у Њујорку. Њена скулптура “Proposal III” је инспирисана остацима социјалистичких грађевина и структура у региону; крхка али експанзивна конструисана од селотејпа и картона прикупљеног у локалним супермаркетима.

Вита Соул Вилмеринг је холандска умјетница, укорјењена у документарној кинематографији чији рад истиче звук и перформанс. Њена инсталација “Parallel Lake Bottom Cinema” гестикулира активирање тихе прошлости. Пејзаж рушевина постаје предложена позорница за биоскоп на отвореном, постављен на звук спекулативног сећања.
