2021 Open Call
The call for applications for KAMEN 2021 is now open! Propose your projects to us by February 1st Season 2021: 1st of May to the 31st October Duration of residency: 8 weeks (May-June, July-August or September-October) Find out more about the application procedure here. KAMEN Artist Residency is an artist-run residency program, initiated to provide space for artists to live and work in proximity, and engage in collaborative or solo projects. We are located in a rural area in the south of Bosnia-Herzegovina, overlooking Bileća lake, which spans more than 17 km wide. The landscape is made up of limestone and is riddled with underground rivers, sinkholes, caves and endemic species. Each year, we can welcome 10 to 12 artists and art-related researchers, working across a wide range of specializations, including visual art, moving image, sound, performative practices, writing and/or design. Participants of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and genders are welcome, at any stage of their career. We encourage experimental practices and interdisciplinary projects. Environmental issues and ecological concerns find a particularly fruitful ground at KAMEN. So does engagement with socio-political and historical issues. That said, we value artistic autonomy and do not impose a thematic program. At KAMEN, we value a communal atmosphere. We provide studio and living facilities, general project assistance, a network of partners, and access to commons, which includes an abundant fruit orchard and vegetable garden. KAMEN is not necessarily outcome-oriented. We do however extend an open invitation to our residents to hold a public presentation in their preferred format, scale and style. We facilitate the organization of exhibitions, lectures, masterclasses, and screenings, etc. in collaboration with our partners in the region. We look forward to receiving your proposals! |
